Here at the Fabulous 40th Birthday Home Exchange we like very much the chateau. Each morning we walk down the long pebbled driveway holding our old-fashioned milk bottle carrier. We leave it for the farmer who rents the pastures surrounding the manor house and the chateau. In the evening, when the milking is over we return to find four full glass bottles of fresh milk.
As I drove the chateau-owners to the train station, they pointed out the family fun park and the local town where market-day was happening. I dropped them off and we agreed on a place where I could leave their car when my own family headed home via train.
This is the exchangers' first swap in many years, as they have been focused on renovating this chateau during their vacation time. I think they found my three pages of home exchange instructions, restaurant recommendations and emergency info to be overkill. In response, they left a few hand-written lines of information and their cell phone number. However, since we met them here, they did give us a tour and provide instructions when we inquired about something like where to throw the garbage.
I will hurry to post this before the dial-up connection goes. It is raining here, but who cares? We're in a chateau!
