My friend Suzanne tells me she reads this blog every day but has trouble leaving comments. I have made it easier for you to tell other home exchangers what you think. Where are you heading on home exchange in 2008?
Here is our itinerary:
March: Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, a long weekend get-away by the sea
July: Montreal Jazz Festival!
August: Napa, CA for wine and fine food
September: Labor Day in Cape Cod
October: upstate New York to watch the leaves turn
November: Blue Ridge of North Carolina for Thanksgiving with Grandma and Grandpa in an exchange home halfway between our home and the in-laws house.
December: San Miguel de Allende Mexico
Notice something missing from this list? It's Europe. My grandparents left Europe for a reason, and I have my own reasons for avoiding it these days. Like most Americans I am finding that our travel dollars go further in the Americas. We are "limiting" ourselves to swaps on our own continent. If it's not connected to the mainland United States by land we'll avoid it.
Poor us. North America, Central America and South America comprise dozens of fascinating countries and cultures. 2008 is the year we find home exchange happiness in our own back yard.
