A Milestone for HomeExchange.com

My favorite home swap company is growing fast, even without some of the gimmicks used by certain other sites to get new members.

The club I like best is home exchange.com. Here is a press release from them about their latest triumph:

HomeExchange Announces 20,000th Member Listing World's Leading Vacation Alternative Achieves Major Milestone Long Beach, CA (PRWEB) February 9, 2008 --

HomeExchange.com (www.HomeExchange.com), the number one home exchange Web site in the world, today announced its 20,000th Member Listing at the 2008 Los Angeles Times Travel & Adventure Show.

The 20,000th Listing, the Duplantis family, posted their Chapel Hill, North Carolina home on the site after meeting a visitor from France who was in the US on his own home exchange. "We realized this would be a fantastic way for us to travel with our children and get a real cultural immersion. We're looking forward to traveling to Europe this summer."

Like many other savvy travelers taking advantage of the 'You stay in my home while I stay in yours' concept, the Duplantis' are reaping the rewards of the web's best travel value. With no hotel bills, they can vacation anywhere for little more than the cost of staying at home. Plus, they get the added perks of staying in a comfortable home and experiencing an area not as a tourist, but a local.

"On the website, I saw all these gorgeous homes and thought it would be a wonderful starting point for two women (Diaz and Winslet) both running away from something. Swapping houses becomes the first step in taking their lives back.

"With recommendations from your exchange partner on best places to eat, shop and see, it's like having a personal guide," says Ed Kushins, President of HomeExchange.com. "Shopping in local markets, meeting friendly neighbors and having your own room when you come back from a long day of sightseeing are things you just don't get with a hotel vacation." "And beyond summer vacations, our Members are using HomeExchange more and more for weekend getaways and special needs like attending weddings, reunions, sporting events or visiting their kids at college."

Celebrating its 16th year in business, HomeExchange.com is recognized as the largest and most respected home exchange agency in the world.

In its current issue (February, 2008), Budget Travel Magazine states that "the best lodging value of all, of course, is house-swapping" with HomeExchange.com first among the Web sites cited.

Hollywood has also taken notice of HomeExchange.com. The site was featured in the hit Sony Pictures movie "The Holiday" in which Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet arrange their own home exchange and find adventure and love in the process.

Nancy Meyers, the movie's writer/director, says the initial spark for "The Holiday" was ignited when planning her own vacation and serendipitously finding the HomeExchange.com Web site. "I had no idea this kind of thing ever existed," Meyers admitted. "On the website, I saw all these gorgeous homes and thought it would be a wonderful starting point for two women (Diaz and Winslet) both running away from something. Swapping houses becomes the first step in taking their lives back."
