There were several elements that made this swap a classic example of the best in home exchange.
THE PROMISE
The owner of the home we used stayed at our place exactly a year ago. He was flexible about letting us complete the swap when convenient. He kept his promise and that is the essence of home exchange.
LOCATION?
The destination was classic as well because we had never heard of it before the swapper contacted us. By being open to swap suggestions we discovered an interesting vacation spot close to home.
ACCOMMODATIONS
There were lots of hotels in this resort town but we had a large house all to ourselves. Grandpa, each child and the parents used four bedrooms and there was still one left over.
Our children sleep better if they each have their own room but that is not possible in a hotel for safety reasons.
AMENITIES
Grandpa didn't join us when we walked around the nearby lake or hiked along the ocean but he was happy watching the swapper's giant television with a fridge of cold beverages nearby.
CONVENIENCE
We found a great restaurant each night but made a simple breakfast and lunch each day. This was so much easier than getting hungry toddlers ready to go out and teaching proper restaurant behavior three times each day.
THE BEST PART
As great as these things were, the best part of the swap happened when we returned....
