I admit it, I am a house harlot. What I mean is that I can be seduced by the offer of a gorgeous exchange home even when the location isn't a destination I had considered.
We get a lot of offers from Southern California. SoCal swappers usually get a polite "thanks, but no thanks" reply from me.
This, despite the fact that I have fear friends and cousins in the Los Angeles area.
I guess living in the Northern California Bay Area for so many years made me feel snobbish about the southern half of the state.
As a bicyclist I am eager to visit California to ride its exquisite coast and back roads again. When I think of Southern California what comes to mind if car culture and traffic congestion, not empty country roads climbing golden hills.
So what could entice me to finally do a Los Angeles area swap, and a rather inconvenient non-simultaneous one at that?
It would have to be a pretty incredible offer, right?
It was.
