Home exchange is the perfect time to experience local holidays or other special events. My country's birthday was last night. In the US, Independence Day is often celebrated with fireworks displays. We have picnics or grill hot dogs and hamburgers.
Our swap home has a front-row seat to four of the six barges from which New York City's fireworks are launched. We saw an amazing display, right from our living room window. I took several photos of the "rockets' red glare" and the silhouetted skyline in the foreground. You can bet I am going to add at least one of those shots to our swap listing. I will annotate the photo with text explaining that holiday fireworks can be seen from our apartment.
This is the sort of special event that any swapper can highlight to add interest to a home exchange listing. What holidays or unique events are celebrated in your town?
