SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL

Our tiny Manhattan swap home may be humble, but no end of offers keep pouring in.  Now that I can retire to my relatives vacation home on the weekends we have complete flexibility to offer our apartment any time.  We downsized when I went back to graduate school and now inhabit a home that is 75% smaller than what we were used to.

There are advantages to living in a small home.  You can clean it quickly and easily.  Everything is at your fingertips.  We don't surround ourselves with clutter -- an item comes in, another goes out.

Small is starting to look beautiful to me.  That's why I trotted down to the MecaWorld exhibit in Manhattan's Meat Packing district this weekend.  I saw their "Modular Luxury Housing".  That means they take the strongest cargo containers made and finish them with beautiful, high-quality surfaces.  You can buy a ready-made home for around $40,000 including plumbing, electrical wiring, gorgeous bamboo paneling and solar panels.

Place this beauty on a "temporary foundation" and you won't ever pay a dime in property tax to own this modern masterpiece with kitchen, living room, bedroom and good-sized bathroom.  If you have been wanting to get into home exchange but are not sure you want foreigners in your bathtub, consider one of these beauties.  You'll be swapping with no sweat in no time.
