Bait and Switch

Bait and switch. You see a car ad promising that new fuel-efficient hybrid for less than the retail price. When you arrive at the showroom the car has been "sold" and only the more expensive model remains.

Does bait and switch occur in home exchange? Many Swappers offer second homes for exchangers to use. These homes are sometimes rented as well. A reader shared her annoyance at requesting a swap only to be told the home was available for rent at the requested swap period.

Is it fair for an owner of a rental property to list it for exchange? Should the landlord respond to a swap request by suggesting the exchanger become a renter?

Use the comments link below to tell me your thoughts and experiences with rentals on exchange sites and I will tell you what I think tomorrow.
