Meeting Our Swap Partner

Before we head to a swap home we usually have the address and house keys in hand. Or at least the address.

Now I found myself driving two hours north of Miami to meet our swap partner at a coffee shop next to the highway.

Her home, she had explained, was in a subdivision so new it did not yet appear on any GPS or computer mapping program.

Besides, her last home exchange partners had managed to get stuck in her house's two-person elevator. She insisted on orienting us.

This did not have me feeling very comfortable. And when the swapper did not answer two emails I sent during the week before we left for Florida I felt really odd about the arrangement.

Finally I called our swap partner who eventually sent a confirmation email stating where and when she would meet us.

Now I waited for the GPS to find the cafe she had picked and hoped she would be there....
