"Dear Victoria,
It looks like you haven't yet done a house exchange. I would be happy to provide you with lots of references -- it can be a little daunting the first time...Delia is our neighbor in Charleston. She has been our guest in the apartment while we were in the US. Except for not being able to figure out the washing machine, they had a great time...The second one is Nicole. She is our first ever home exchanger many years ago. She has a home exchange blog which is quite interesting. She hasn't stayed here because she now travels with her spouse, two kids and 85-year-old father but they have seen the apartment. They stopped here on their way to a house exchange in Burgundy last spring. They live in Manhattan.
The third is my friend Anne who lives near here on Blvd. St Germain. Like us, she and her husband Tim retired to Paris a couple of years ago. Some friends of hers used our apartment during Christmas and some other friends used is during the summer.
Ciao,
Naomi"
A few days later we heard from the potential exchange partners in question:
"Greetings ..
We are planning a house exchange in Paris with Naomi. Naomi has given us your name as a reference. It would be most appreciative if you could please email me with a review and reference for Naomi's home in Paris and your experience with your past home exchanges with her.
Thank you in advance for you time.
Sincerely,
Victoria"
What should I tell Victoria? Tomorrow: a home exchange letter of reference.
