In Europe and parts of Asia, the law requires that workers get from four to 7 weeks off. Per year. And that's for new employees. After a decade or more on the job the vacation time increases.
The number of guaranteed paid vacation days for American workers? Zero.
So what do you do if you want to travel to or around the US and are from Europe or are retired or work in a field that offers summers off?
Well, either you resign yourself to a one or 2 week swap, since that is how much vacation time most American workers get, or you get creative.
A reader asked about coordinating two or more consecutive exchanges.
This is a tricky subject. We will delve into the issues together.
Have you done consecutive swaps? How did they turn out?
