FREE HOME EXCHANGE CLUB MEMBERSHIP

Yes, the summer is over. But you can still have a great home exchange in 2008. The question is when? Let's take a look at that in more detail soon. But before you get a swap you need to join a home exchange club.

Actually, you don't. Some people get swaps by posting on Craig's List or other free sites. I have no commercial link to any exchange club but I think using a site that doesn't charge anything is a bad idea. You want to swap with someone who gave their credit card and home address to the swap club administrators. In fact, I want to exchange with people who have been members of a particular club for several years. That means they are solvent and/or responsible enough to pay their dues. But which club to join? A Canadian reader raised this question recently:

"I have been enjoying your home exchange blog for some time. We are senior home exchangers with many home exchanges under our belts. We love it and it makes our travels so much more affordable. We are wondering which home exchange sites you search and list on. We have used a few but find homeexchange.com to be the best.

Thanks for your blog.

Lynne

PS It is possible to take kids out of school for short holidays - travel can be more educational than school at times. I speak from experience and as a retired Kindergarten teacher."

Well, Lynne, I find HomeExchange.com to be the best club as well, overall. This is a sensitive topic among swappers, especially those who own exchange clubs. So I will mention that Digsville.com has the best feedback system and HomeForExchange.com has the best deal of any club with over 10,000 members. HomeForExchange.com will let me send a link for a 6-month trial membership to anyone who sends me their email address. You can reach me at HomeExchanger (at) yahoo.com

It also bears repeating that KnowYourTrade.com has done the best analysis of each home exchange club. You can find the right club for you by checking out their lists of clubs with the most swappers, clubs for members of different affinity groups, price per membership, and so on.

KnowYourTrade.com is one of our community's best resources. Don't join another home exchange club until you check them out!
