The one person in the whole world who most desperately needs to do a home exchange is Sarah Palin. Yes, the Republican Vice Presidential nominee could really benefit from swapping homes, and not just because she probably needs a vacation right about now.
Palin is 44-years old. Last July, according to the CNN news website, Palin left North America for the first time to visit her state's soldiers stationed in Kuwait and Germany. Her world travel experience consists of the trip to Kuwait (which was misrepresented by her campaign as a trip to Iraq), one vacation to Mexico of unspecified vintage, and a single trip to Canada. Canada, it should be noted, shares a 2500 kilometer (1500 mile) border with Alaska.
If Sarah Palin had done a home exchange would she still have the gall to say that she has foreign policy experience because "you can see Russia from Alaska!" If Palin had met European swappers who survived fascism in Italy, Spain or Germany would she really support declaring an annual "Loyalty Day" -- I'm not making this up -- "to reaffirm loyalty to America"?
Please offer this woman a home exchange. Expand her tiny, limited horizons. Spark some curiosity in a woman who had no interest, well into the fifth decade of her life, in exploring the world outside her back yard. If anyone ever needed to do a home exchange it's Sarah Palin.
