What's Up In Your Town?

Our long weekend of home exchange leaf peeping is starting in just 48 hours. As we get ready for this get-away our swap partner is doing something rather amazing.

Each day she has emailed us about some new event or activity that might appeal to our family.

Perhaps the children would enjoy picking apples? The swapper sent us the address of an orchard just up the road.

A pumpkin patch with spooky scarecrows could be delightful. She directed us to the nearby farm that gets into the Halloween spirit.

There is a civil war re-enactor brigade coming this weekend to the downtown historic district.

Our swap partner has let us know about all of these fun events and more. In doing so she has helped us get excited about our exchange with her.

It is considerate to inform your exchange guests about local events. It is also good planning. By directing swappers to fun activities you up the odds that they will enjoy your home and your town.

Happy swappers will provide good references to your future potential exchange partners.

If your guests enjoy their stay they may well want a repeat visit which means you get another vacation at their place.

Thinking about the needs of your swap partners is just considerate. It is good hospitality to help your guests take advantage of all your area has to offer. And ultimately, hospitality is what home exchange is all about.
