HOME EXCHANGE LIFE BEGINS AT 40

Our 40th home exchange is going to be something special. A little girl is turning 5 and her parents are bringing her all the way from California to see the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. As it happens, our apartment is just a few blocks away from Macy's.

The California family is new to home exchange. They have a home that sounds rather amazing. It is a free-standing house built on the grounds of a luxury hotel. Home-owners, and their guests, have the right to use all the resort's amenities.

This family wants to use our home the weekend after Thanksgiving. We cannot go all the way to California at that time since our kids only have two days off from school.

No problem on the other family's end: they have tickets to visit their children's grandparents from the weekend before Christmas through the weekend after.

Eleven days in the California sun on the grounds of a luxury hotel? I'm there.

But we won't be out of town during their stay at our place. So all we have to do to get it to happen is find a second home.
