HOME EXCHANGE IN THE NEWS

Love it or ignore it, the tabloid-style newspaper insert "USA Weekend" appears in 700 "local papers". That's a lot of eyeballs. And those eyes will be on the concept of home swapping, thanks to this weekend's article "8 super-smart ways to save" which features home exchange as on of those eight super-smart ways.

I'm not tremendously excited about budget ideas like groping my pets every week (evidently, if I find a tumor today, kitty's chemotherapy bills will be lower than if her cancer is diagnosed later); searching for a no-fee checking account (already have one); renting clothing (ewww); or buying a car on-line (last time I checked, buying a car would actually cost me money. Anyway, I already know I should get a price quote on-line even if I did want to spend $25,000 right now).

But home swapping is a brilliant tip, one that makes up for all the cat-grabbing, smelly designed duds and check-kiting advice. Hopefully we will welcome lots of new exchangers into our community. Just be careful they don't start feeling up your feline.
