Fixing Up the Swap Home

Amazing what a can of paint can do. As soon as we got access to our new apartment we started painting.

Nothing makes a small apartment look bigger than painting the entire place the same light, neutral color.

Our main decor strategy has been to de-clutter. A spare, minimalist look expands a small home visually. It also helps swappers feel more comfortable.

A cluttered home does not look clean. Our new place is only 400 square feet. Editing our possessions is the only way to make such a small place livable.

We still need to paint the kitchen, which is a jarring shade of day glo green.

Even in its unfinished state we have added lots of photos of the place to our listing. As we fix it up we will replace those shots but we do not want to hide the fact that the apartment is very small and basic.

The first swap in the new place is set for late June. That gives us a dead line to make the place look really great. We will see if that is even possible in such a humble home.
