SWAP-READY?

Is our new swap apartment ready for its first home exchange?  I sure hope so, because a couple from California is scheduled to arrive a week from now.

They agreed to the swap based on the "before" photos I posted of the place.  The folks who subletted the apartment to us have lived there on and off for 20 years.  There are a lot of accumulated...treasures.  We de-accumulated as much of it as they would let us.  Then we cleaned like we had never cleaned before.

After clearing things out we painted every possible surface the exact same color.  In an apartment this small you don't want to chop things up with different colors.  New mattresses and bedding; new rugs; curtains; a butcher block for extra counter space; repairing doors that were not fully attached to their hinges; hanging new hooks; putting up artwork and mirrors.  The place looks a lot better.  But is it good enough?

My fear is that a swapper will open the door of this century-old apartment and walk right out again.    I'm hoping that the awesome location and our hospitable attitude will count for something.  We have done our best but is that good enough?
