This weekend we welcomed Toronto swappers to our new apartment. We have known this family for five years. In that time they have become friends. Now we have a new, smaller apartment, which they found adequate. They just bought a vacation home in Mexico and we are already discussing a future exchange for that property.
When you get to know home exchanger partners you can develop life-long friendships. Our home becomes their home, and vice versa. It's a wonderful feeling to have friends all around the world. That is something which is possible in home exchange but not in hotel travel. The worker at the concierge desk is being nice to you because he wants a tip.
