How are you going to find a home exchange with your humongous swap party? You, your spouse, and your (insert large number) children have to rent two minivans when you travel. Few swap partners are clamoring to have your abundant family in their homes. Here's another solution: decrease the size of your humongous swap party.

Home exchange is about different things to different people. Some value the cultural exchange, others the family togetherness possible only under one large roof. For some folks, it's all about saving money.
When you have a huge exchange party, you may have to compromise on some of home exchange's benefits.
FARM 'EM OUT
A large exchange group of four couples or parents with four or more kids would likely rent three or four hotel rooms when on a typical vacation. If the size of your group is closing home exchange doors, why not whittle it down a bit? Let your two oldest or most responsible young adult children use a room in the hotel closest to the exchange home. Or alternate which family members sleep in the hotel each night. With two or three members of your group using the hotel room, you can now ask swappers to accommodate a less frightening five or six of you, instead eight, ten or more.
THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Unless the exchange home is very rural, there is likely to be a good selection of lodging nearby. If you spring for a resort-style hotel, suddenly you add value to your vacation for all family members. You have an exchange home for cooking, clothes washing and other homey amenities. Combine it with just one hotel room and everyone can enjoy resort amenities like a pool, hot tub, exercise room and so on.
OTHER OPTIONS
There are other ways to reduce the number of people sleeping in the exchange home without resorting to a resort. Tune in next time to find out how.
